Abstract
The electrical conductivity has been measured on the pellets of Ag13(Me4N)2I15, and Ag13(Et4N)2I15 as a function of pelletizing pressure and temperature. The density of the pellets formed at different pressures is also reported. It has been found that the conductivity attains its maximum value of pellets compressed at pressures of 2800 kg cm-2 or higher, while the density approaches its maximum value (99% of the theoretical density) at pressures of approximately 3300 kg cm-2 or higher, for both the solid electrolytes. The conductivity is corrected for electrode-electrolyte contact resistance at room temperature. The temperature dependence of the conductivity is described by the equations log10 sigma =4.38-993.2/T-log10T and log10 sigma =5.13-1315.8/T-log1oT for Me and Et electrolytes, respectively, in the temperature range investigated. The associated transport parameters are calculated and various characteristics of 'silver-based superionic conductors' are compared. Keywords
