Abstract
The application of the tissue pressure apparatus to the detn. of venous pressure directly has the following advantages the small needle makes it possible to study directly the venous pressure in small veins; it is simple and accurate; the lateral openings in the needle make it possible to measure true lateral pressure; there is a negligible exchange of fluid and blood between the apparatus and vein. A comparison of indirect and direct detns. of venous pressure on the same vein in 10 normal subjects indicates that the former is in error by approximately the tissue pressure. This factor becomes increasingly important as the venous pressure decreases. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
