Abstract
This article examines the theoretical status of communication ethics scholarship from 1915 to 1985. Five different approaches to communication ethics are used for reviewing article contributions in communication studies: (1) democratic ethics, (2) universal‐humanitarian ethics, (3) codes and standards for ethics, (4) contextual ethics, and (5) narrative ethics.Keywords
