CARCINOMA of the breast seen in youth is a medical curiosity. The incidence of breast carcinoma is extremely low under the age of 30 years. In Haagensen's Presbyterian Hospital data, only 1.8% of 1,544 patients were under the age of 30.6 Below the age of 25 the disease is rare. Only four patients were under 25; the youngest was 22. Below the age of 20, carcinoma of the breast is a medical curiosity. In Pirquet's tabulation of English mortality data, 70,247 deaths from breast carcinoma are reviewed.13 There was one case of a child under the age of 5 years, one case between the ages of 10 and 14, five cases between the ages of 15 and 19, and 27 cases between the ages of 20 and 24.
