Abstract
The effect on normal human leukocytes of acute phase human sera containing C-reactive protein and of 2 samples of purified C-reactive protein prepd. by 2 different methods was detd. The purified protein in final concn. above 0.005 mg./cc. destroyed the leukocytes. Lower concns. stimulated them to increased migration. The toxic effect of purified C-protein at concns. over 0.005 mg./cc. was diminished by addition of normal human serum to the protein prepn. Acute phase human serum caused increased migration of leukocytes due to its content of C-protein.Keywords
