Abstract
The auscultatory and phonocardiographic findings in 80 healthy children are described with special emphasis on the differentiation of the physiological ejection murmur from pathological systolic murmurs. Measurements are given for the interval between onset of QRS and first sound and carotid rise, duration of carotid ejection, and width of splitting of the first and second sounds. Based on these measurements, estimates are given of the electromechanical interval and isometric contraction time of the left ventricle. Keywords
