Abstract
Tours have had quite an evolution with us in West Virginia. At first the state tours were conducted as poultry tours, live-stock tours, etc., but they became so popular that it became necessary to combine them into one big annual farmers' tour. Our idea of a tour of this kind is that it should give the farmers an educational vacation at a small expense, and incidently promote good fellowship. We have had a number of farmers on these tours who never took a vacation. There are also many farmers who seldom get beyond the boundaries of their county and rarely into another state. Before we can make our extension work effective, farmers must first have some appreciation and understanding of what we are trying to do. We have found the tour to be a very effective agency in helping to get the job done. How the State Tour Is Handled
