The Effect of Surfactants on the Growth Rate of Swine

Abstract
The inclusion of alkyl benzene sulfonate at a level of 0.20 percent of the ration of weanling pigs resulted in significantly increased growth rate over the basal control group and one which was not significantly different from the response produced by aureomycin hydrochloride (7.5 mg./lb. ration). At levels of 0.10 or 0.40 percent of the ration, alkyl benzene sulfonate did not affect the growth rate significantly. Ethomid C-15 at levels of 0.025, 0.05 or 0.10 percent failed to exert a growth stimulating effect. Copyright © . .
