PROLONGATION EFFECT OF BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS ON KIDNEY GRAFT SURVIVAL

Abstract
SUMMARY Transfusion data were collected during a 3-year period on 382 hemodialysis patients with the aid of a computerized followup system. Thirty-seven per cent of the patients did not receive any blood transfusions prior to transplantation. The graft survival in nontransfused patients was statistically significantly lower than that in transfused patients. These results confirm our previous findings in an independent series of patients.
