Abstract
Realistic equations of population growth, separately representing scarcity of renewed material resources and scarcity of fixed resources related to space, show the differential imnpact of these two factors on comnpetitive coexistence. The equations suggest a general theory of competition coverinlg any number or kinid of resolurces, consumers. and intraspecific and interspecific interactions. Keywords
