FAILURE OF ADRENAL CORTICAL HORMONES TO PROTECT AGAINST COLD IN YOUNG NORMAL AND ADRENALECTOMIZED RATS

Abstract
Body temp. control against cold develops in the normal white rat at about the 18th day of life. The protective action of the adrenal cortical hormones were tested on 222 normal and adrenalectomized rats from 8 to 30 days of age. The hormones of the adrenal cortex have no protective action against cold until after the age at which body temp. control normally develops, 18 days.
