Abstract
The effect of denervation on the inorganic cation content of rat muscle was studied. By using the flame photometer for the estimation of Na and K and increasing the sensitivity of previous methods for the estimation of Ca and Mg, it has been possible to carry out analyses for all these ions on as little as 0.5 g. of tissue. Following neurotomy the concn. of Na and Ca in the whole muscle increased significantly while at the same time the K content decreased. The Mg content remained unchanged during the period studied. Keywords
