Abstract
Just as the derivative of the argument of the matrix with respect to energy gives a time interval for events, it is shown that the corresponding derivative with respect to momentum transfer gives a space interval. This space interval corresponds to the classical impact parameter in the classical limit. More generally, it is suggested that these two derivatives may provide a basis for introducing space-time intervals into physical theory.
