Variation in Life Table Characteristics among three Geographic Strains of Culex Pipiens Quinquefasciatus

Abstract
Life tables were generated for 3 geographic strains of Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus. Significant differences could be demonstrated among these strains for mean life expectancy of males and females, net reproductive rate and intrinsic rate of increase. Survivorship functions were similar for all 3 strains and resembled those of other mosquitoes, man and drosophilids. The numaer of eggs/raft decreased as female mosquitoes aged, and the mean number of eggs/raft did not differ significantly among the strains.
