Abstract
The one-dimensional wave equation is examined for the purpose of developing a method applicable to indirect probing of propagation speed inhomogeneities. The examination utilizes the theory of inverse scattering and results in the development of a new method. The method consists of an algorithm which derives the inhomogeneities through processing in a special way the backscattered waves generated by an incident δ-function.Keywords
