Abstract
The method used to investigate the effect of phase of respiration on the two derived parameters, mean log echo amplitude and slope. The increased mean log echo amplitude in cirrhosis is confirmed. Maximal inspiration is found to be associated with a reduction in mean log echo amplitude when compared with interrupted quiet respiration in a group of normal controls. No consistent effect on slope is demonstrated. Keywords
