Measurements of RelativeKRadiative Decay Rates

Abstract
Relative radiative decay rates were measured for K-shell vacancies for elements between Z=62 and 92 with a high-resolution Ge(Li) spectrometer. The ratios α2α1, β1α1, and β2α1 (Siegbahn notation) were determined, with α2α1 significantly higher (4-14%) than those reported by Beckman but in excellent agreement with recent Hartree-Slater calculations of Scofield. The ratios β1α1 and β2α1 do not agree with either Beckman's experiment or Scofield's calculations.
