Distortion effects due to multiplexing of charge transfer structures

Abstract
This paper discusses the limitations of multiplexed sampled analog delay structures where multiplexing is done to enhance the bandwidth of the system. In the specific context of a multiplexed charge-coupled device structure, the parameters governing nonuniform channel characteristics are identified, and simple mathematical analysis on the resulting clock introduced distortions is presented and compared with the experimental results. In view of the results, discussions are made on the practical considerations involved in the optimum design of a multiplexed device.
