ENHANCEMENT-INDUCED SPECIFIC NONREACTIVITY IN EXPERIMENTAL KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION

Abstract

Confirmation is presented that kidney transplantation between three weakly incompatible strains of rats leads to the formation of circulating alloantibodies. During the long survival of the kidney-grafted rats, a decline of the antibodies to background levels became evident. Kidney donor-type skin grafts were now accepted with full hair growth for several months. It is suggested that a state of autoenhancement is replaced by a specific nonreactivity.
