Abstract
The easy direction of magnetization in high-purity gadolinium single crystals has been measured as a function of temperature using a torque method. The magnetization is found to remain on a cone about the c axis at all temperatures below 240K. Extremely good agreement is obtained with the neutron diffraction measurements of Cable and Wollan (1968).Keywords
