Subordinate appraisal: A valuable source of information about managers

Abstract
The use of subordinates for managerial performance appraisal is discussed and the advantages and disadvantages are presented. While the empirical data is limited, that which does exist supports the use of subordinates for both feedback purposes and personnel decisions. A set of prescriptions is provided for implementation.Keywords
