Abstract
Significant increase of cell membrane resting electrical potential (REP) of adipose tissue obtained from young rats occurred in response to 1-1,000 micro-units/ ml of insulin. Decrease of adipose tissue resting potentials occurred following replacement of insulin by control buffer. Resting electrical potentials of adipose tissue from older rats, weighing 330-405 g, showed no such increase in response to 1,000 micro-units/ml of insulin. Presence or absence of glucose in the buffer medium appeared to have no effect upon the response of cell membrane REP.Keywords
