Demonstration of Precipitating Antibodies in Sera of Ragweed-Allergic Individuals by the Agar Gel Technique

Abstract
By a micro-Ouchterlony technique, precipitation lines could be demonstrated between ragweed pollens extracts and the sera of untreated and of treated ragweed sensitivity persons, also in the sera of non-allergic individuals injected with ragweed pollen extracts. Such reactions were only demonstrable after concentration of the reactive part of the serum in one fraction obtained by chromatography from a DEAE-cellulose column. The same fraction contains the hemagglutinating and blocking activity.
