Abstract
P. falciparum malaria was cultured in vitro in the presence of sera from patients with cerebral malaria, meningitis and also after choloroquine administration. Intra-erythrocytic parasite damage was seen by light and electron microscopy. The significance of the results is discussed with relevance to non-specific immune mechanisms, and the damage induced by these mechanisms compared with that from chloroquine. Keywords
