Abstract
Certain desirable requirements lead to an essentially unique definition for partial-wave amplitudes in production processes. This definition is given in concrete form and the case of particles with spin is treated. An application is included as an example of the usefulness of the partial amplitudes. A dispersion relation is given that is satisfied by the complete amplitude and probably also by the partial amplitudes. Keywords
