Evaluation of Unpreserved and Preserved Stools for the Detection and Identification of Intestinal Parasites

Abstract

An evaluation of a two-vial technic for the collection of stool samples submitted by mail for parasitologic examination is presented. Results obtained on 15,807 paired preserved and unpreserved stools indicate that both sample types are necessary for accurate diagnosis of infections by protozoans and helminths.
