Abstract
We have observed saturable absorption effects in mercury cadmium telluride. The transmission of etched Hg0.39Cd0.61Te saturates by more than a factor of 10 for high pulse energies at the wavelength λ=1.06 μm. The lifetime of this short‐lived saturation is measured to be less than 50 psec. Keywords
