Abstract
A method for the estimation of blood levels of methoxyflurane by gas chromatography using carbon disulphide as a solvent and toluene as an internal standard has been described. Virtually complete extraction of methoxyflurane from blood was observed and results were reproducible. Blood levels of less than 1 mg were measured without difficulty. The advantage of the internal standard technique in obviating the necessity for accurate measurement of the injected sample has been pointed out and the constancy of results in the face of changes in sample size, column temperature and carrier gas flow has been shown. Keywords
