The colouring matters of galls

Abstract
8 pigments are described which yielded 1 mol. purpurogallin, C11H8O5, and 2 mol. of glucose on enzyme-hydrolysis. They are named after their gall producers, namely, adelgesin, dryophantin, cecidomin, melamp-sorin, raestelin, eriophyesin, xestophanesin, and pontanin. Eriophyesin is shown to be a biglucoside.
