Abstract
To the Editor: We were much interested by the paper, "Plasma Renin Activity in Homotransplant Recipients," by Blaufox, Birbari, Hickler and Merrill, which appeared in the November 24, 1966, issue of the Journal. We have completed the same study in 23 terminal cases of Bright's disease, in which biweekly hemodialyses were carried out: 10 cases of chronic glomerulonephritis; 9 of chronic pyelonephritis; 2 of lupus nephritis; 1 of periarteritis nodosa; and 1 of uncertain etiology. Renin concentration was assessed by the method of Brown et al.1 in arterial-blood samples obtained before hemodialyses.Among our 23 patients 20 had a . . .
