The Spectral Components of 150 Major Solar Radio Events (1952-1960)

Abstract
A list is given of the spectral components (Types II, III and V bursts, and storms with continuum) of all major solar radio events recorded with the Dapto radio spectrograph (25–210 Mc/s) between August 1952 and September 1960. Where possible the associated flare and ionospheric data are appended. The list shows that during the period in question the flares associated with major disturbances were twice as numerous in the northern hemisphere of the Sun than in the southern. The list also suggests that the probability of a Type II burst being followed by a continuum storm is much less during the early part of the sunspot cycle than in the later part.
