Tunable PIFA using low cost band switch diodes

Abstract
As tunable planar inverted-F antennas (PIFA) become more popular in wireless communication, an experiment with PIFA in a switch application has been conducted. A switch with low cost design is preferred. The tunable PIFA enables us to switch from low frequency to high frequency operation by varying the length of the antenna. This paper describe implementation of a PIN diode, functioning as the switch, in the PIFA.
