Abstract
A convenient synthesis of 3-spiro-fused benzofuran-2(3H)-ones via palladium-catalyzed chemoselective carbonylation of vinyl triflates in the presence of o-iodophenols, followed by regioselective intramolecular Heck reaction, is described.
