Silver's Syndrome

Abstract

Between 1953 and 1959, Silver^1-3reported 5 cases of a syndrome characterized by congenital asymmetry, shortness of stature, and elevated urinary gonadotropins. Because of the increased levels of urinary gonadotropins, he predicted⁴that some of the children with this syndrome would be expected to exhibit deviations from the usual pattern of sexual development. This is a report of 2 girls with atypical forms of the syndrome described by Silver in one of whom the first menstrual period occurred at the age of 9½ years, while in the other it took place at 11 years at a time when epiphyseal development was only at an 8-year-old level.
