Silver's Syndrome

Abstract
Between 1953 and 1959, Silver1-3reported 5 cases of a syndrome characterized by congenital asymmetry, shortness of stature, and elevated urinary gonadotropins. Because of the increased levels of urinary gonadotropins, he predicted4that some of the children with this syndrome would be expected to exhibit deviations from the usual pattern of sexual development. This is a report of 2 girls with atypical forms of the syndrome described by Silver in one of whom the first menstrual period occurred at the age of 9½ years, while in the other it took place at 11 years at a time when epiphyseal development was only at an 8-year-old level.
