Studies on the Origin of the Lipid Components of Xanthomata

Abstract
As the result of in vitro studies of lipid synthesis in slices of rabbit and human xanthomata and of studies on the origin of xanthoma cholesterol in the intact rabbit it has been concluded that although slight amounts of cholesterol may be synthesized in situ, the xanthoma cholesterol is derived predominantly from the blood stream. It has also been demonstrated that the xanthomata possesses the ability to synthesize actively two other lipid components in these lesions--phospholipids and fatty acids.This publication has 14 references indexed in Scilit:
