DNA modification of bacteriophage Mu-1 requires both host and bacteriophage functions

Abstract

Resistance of phage Mu-1 to several restriction enzymes is due to a modification function (called mom) encoded by the phage. More recent studies emphasized that modification of Mu requires not only an active mom function, but also an active dam function supplied by the Escherichia coli host.
