Abstract
F. Stöber was specified four conditions which must be fulfilled in order to grow large crystals from fused salts. Ramsperger and Melvin in applying Stöber's method encountered difficulty. They were able to grow large crystals which, however, broke upon cooling on account of unequal temperature contraction of the crystal and the melting pot as well as on account of strains caused by unequal temperature contraction throughout the crystal.Keywords
