Solvent effects on the electronic spectra of some 2,2′-bipyridyl palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes

Abstract

Solvent effects on the electronic spectra of the complexes [Pt(bipy)X₂](bipy = 2,2′-bipyridyl; X = Cl, Br, or I), [Pd(bipy)Cl₂], and [Pt(bipy)(py)₂]²⁺(py = pyridine) are reported and correlated with the E_T parameters of the solvents. The assignments of the electronic spectra are discussed.
