Elastic electron scattering from krypton and xenon for collision energies up to 10.5 eV

Abstract
Angular distributions of monochromatic electrons elastically scattered from Kr and Xe were measured for 3 eV, 5 eV, 7 eV, 9 eV, 9.79 eV, 10.5 eV and for 3 eV, 5 eV, 7.5 eV respectively. In xenon, the angular dependence of the low-energy resonance doublet was studied. From a phaseshift analysis of the angular distribution for 7.5 eV the following potential phaseshifts were taken: Delta 0=-1.048, delta 1=-0.707, delta 2=1.316, delta 3=0.326, delta 4=0.083, delta 5=0.070. The natural width (FWHM) of the first Xe resonance was estimated to be about 4.5 meV.
