Subacute Bacterial Endocarditis Due toFlavobacterium meningosepticum

Abstract
The first case of subacute bacterial endocarditis due to Flavobacterium meningosepticum, type F, is reported. The organism was isolated from a 30-year-old Mexican man with a history of rheumatic heart disease. The literature is reviewed and the cultural characteristics and antibiotic susceptibility of the unusual microorganism are discussed. Awareness of some key characteristics might result in more frequent identification of Flavobacterium meningosepticum in human material.
