Abstract
The generation of a bulk wave due to the nonlinear interaction of surface acoustic waves transmitted in opposite directions is analyzed. We prepared a ZnO thin‐film transducer in the rear side of a 131° Y‐X LiNbO3 delay line and succeeded in detecting the bulk wave directly. A good agreement was obtained between theory and experiment with respect to the efficiency of generation. Keywords
