Fat metabolism in fishes

Abstract
Ethyl esters of myristic and palmitic acids, and of the mixed unsaturated acids of eel fat, were fed to eels. The palmitate was particularly well utilized and led to a considerable increase in the palmitic acid content of the depot fat. On the other diets the changes were small, but consistently supported the view that certain saturated and unsaturated acids are interconvertible by fish.
