ASSIGNMENT OF 4 GENE LOCI (G6PD, PGK, ALPHA-GAL-A AND HGPRT) TO THE CATTLE X-CHROMOSOME BY SOMATIC-CELL GENETICS

Abstract

Twelve hamster .times. cattle (Bos taurus) cell hybrids showed loss of cattle chromosomes, which allows their use for chromosome mapping of cattle. Genes coding for G6PD (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase), .alpha.-GAL A (.alpha.-galactosidase A), PGK (phosphoglycerate kinase) and (indirectly) HGPRT (hypoxanthine guanine phosphoribosyl transferase) are syntenic and localized on the X chromosome.
