Abstract
A study of graphic characteristics of apical murmurs simulating those of mitral stenosis was made in 34 cases. The "functional" nature of the murmur was proved by autopsy in 11 cases, by disappearance following surgery (not on the mitral valve) in 2, and by appearance of the murmur during observation and subsequent disappearance following improvement in 21.Keywords
