Abstract
The paper describes the design, construction and use of a new set of cells for the measurement of the thermal conductivity of gases over a wide temperature range from 77K to 520K by the transient hot-wire method. The design eliminates deficiencies in earlier versions which have limited the application of the experimental technique, for measurements of the highest precision, to near ambient conditions. Trial measurements with the cells are reported at 308 and 340K which confirm that they operate in accordance with the theoretical description of them, and that the accuracy of the experimental data is one of +or-0.3%.Keywords
