A case of acute artifactual hypertension is reported. Despite a thorough evaluation of the patients, a precise etiology was not determined. Severe arteriosclerosis alone did not adequately account for the observations. Both the direct intra-arterial and indirect Infrasonde techniques were adequate means of measuring blood pressure in such a case.
