Abstract
Experiments have been carried out on iron and chromium to test the validity of determining Burgers vectors by the commonly used two beam diffraction contrast method. A number of discrepancies were investigated by careful experimentation and by use of computed images of dislocations. It has been shown that the usual method of obtaining two beam, high resolution, high contrast micrographs frequently leads to erroneous conclusions in Burgers vector determination. Keywords
