THE EFFECT OF EXPERIMENTAL HYPERTHYROIDISM ON HUNGER CONTRACTIONS IN THE BULL-FROG

Abstract
Adult bull-frogs were kept on a diet of fresh beef liver sufficient to maintain normal body weight. Following daily doses of desiccated thyroid, they showed a weight loss of 7.8-20.7%. An increase in height of gastric hunger contractions and occasional periods of incomplete gastric tetanus were observed, but no constant effect on gastric tonus or rate of gastric contraction.
