Abstract
A comparison is made of the accuracy of calculations carried out on the linear and nonlinear hot wire voltage output, when the effects of the higher order fluctuation terms are taken into account. The errors introduced by the method of linearization are then examined. Four known linearization procedures have been investigated and the maximum deviation in velocity and slope from a given type of calibration curves has been evaluated. Keywords
