Über neuraminsäurehaltige Glykoproteide des Blutserums

Abstract
Neuraminic acid was found in fetuin, a protein in the blood plasma of calf fetuses. Fetuin was isolated by the method of Deutsch (J. Biol. Chem. 208 669 (1954) ). The sub-stance was uniform as tested by paper electrophoresis but con-tained a small impurity as tested on the ultracentrifuge. Meth-oxy-neuraminic acid was isolated from the protein, and its identity proved by methods developed by the author. The amount of neuraminic acid present was 6% of the fetuin preparation.
